I am sitting here trying to figure out how to describe this book and do it justice. I really like the descriptive way Ella Fox writes her characters and the setting. I wish I could move to Charlotte’s Cove. It seems like the ideal small town. I was charmed by Ashley and her family in Charlotte’s Cove, as well as the family she made for herself there. She and Tyler are so likable and relatable.  Even though it felt a little insta-love, the chemistry between them was so hot and Tyler was such a tough, sweet heart. He is definitely swoon-worthy.

This is the first book in the Charlotte’s Cove series. I am really looking forward to the next one. Fingers crossed its Ben!

In 2012 she took a big leap of faith and published her first book, Broken Hart. The premise of this book was intriguing.  Twin brothers growing up in different circumstances – one extremely weathly (Julian) and the other poor (Bridge).  When tragedy strikes, the rich father propositions the poor twin to stand in for the other brother and take over the company.  Sounds complicated?  Yep!  Sounds weird? Yep!  Sounds intriguing?  You betcha!  I have to admit the book was better than thought it would be since the premise is the Bridge falling in love with Isobel (Julian’s fiancé).  Ms. Van Dyken weaves a tale of family secrets, mystery and a few things I did not see coming!  Love when that happens…

LIBBY LANE By C.E. Johnson Release & REVIEW!

Title: Libby Lane
Author: C.E. Johnson
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Trope: Small Town Romance/Friends to Lovers

Release Date: November 5, 2019

Jasper Creek is home. I’ve lived here my entire life. So I couldn’t have been more excited when we bought the fixer upper on Libby Lane. That was until “we” became “I”. After I cried out every ounce of my heartbreak with a hammer in my hand, I learned how to be happy alone. Now, all I need is a porch swing, the warm country breeze and a glass of sweet tea. But when I run into Wyatt, the new cop that just moved into town, my time in solitude begins to fade. I just hope trusting him won’t be one of the biggest mistakes I make. This is not the type of place I would have pictured myself living. Jasper Creek is a far cry from the city streets I grew up on. But this town does have one advantage. Cora. Every minute I spend with her on that porch swing, breaks down a little piece of the wall I built inside of me. So when someone targets her and my instincts point to things getting dangerous, you may as well have taken a sledgehammer to that wall. Now my fear of leaving someone behind is replaced by an even greater fear. Losing her.

I’m not staying here. I’m not a damn dog he can order around. I’ve limped halfway down his driveway before I suddenly feel myself lifted off the ground again. He brings me back to the steps, sets me down, then puts a bag of frozen peas on my ankle.
“You need ice and to stay off of it. But from what I’ve seen, you don’t really listen to instructions well.”
“I don’t respond to commands. Especially not from strange men who just moved here and apparently don’t know the proper way to treat a lady.”
He takes a deep breath and blows it out forcefully while rubbing his face. “Well, we wouldn’t be strangers had you told me your name now, would we?”
Maybe I missed the exhaustion in his face when we were in the woods. Or maybe he’s just now letting it show. But the black circles under his eyes don’t lie. Shoulders that were strong and broad in the woods are now angled toward the ground, his muscles relaxed. We may have gotten off to a rough start, but the man did just carry me for about a half mile.
“Cora,” I say quietly.
“My name is Cora,” I yell out of spite. He rolls his eyes but can’t hide the smirk. “Well, it’s CoraLynn, but nobody calls me that other than my mama and Mae.”
“Can I ask you somethin’, Wyatt?” He nods, tucking his thumbs into the top of his duty belt. “How come you’ve been here for a few weeks but nobody’s even met you yet?”
“Started on night shift and slept during the day. Today’s my second day working day shift. It sucks and I’m tired.” I giggle. “That’s far from rumors that have been swirling
around town.”
“Good stuff, huh?”
“There is.” Not wanting to elaborate further on that, I look to the west and see the sun has set. It’s getting dark. “Then again, from our experience today, I’d guess half of it is probably right.” Rising from the step, I stand and brush off the dirt that’s still stuck to my ass from falling. He pushes off the front porch pillar that he was leaning
against and digs in his pocket, coming out with his keys again.
“I’ll drive you home.”
“That’s really unnecessary. I just live…”
An annoyed grin appears on his face, and he leans down close to me. “Are we really going to continue this game?” He thinks I’m playing a game? Fine. “Okay then. Drive me home, Officer.” I smile sarcastically, and he looks intrigued but doesn’t question.
Wyatt’s arm wraps around my waist, and his fingers hold strong to my hip. God he smells good. He gives me more help than I probably need to walk around the car and into the passenger seat of his black Dodge Charger. I hold it together as I watch him jog back to the driver’s side. I stifle my giggle as the engine purrs to life. I don’t laugh as he backs out, puts it in drive, and presses on the gas.
“Right there.” My voice cracks as I try to hold in my laughter.
“My house is right there. The second driveway on the right.”
As he pulls into my driveway two houses down from his, I no longer hold it together. My laughter fills the car. “For a cop, you really suck at observation.” I open the passenger door as he reaches for his handle. “I promise you, I don’t need any more help today. But thank you.”
“Have you always been this stubborn?” he asks.
Memories of years ago flood into the forefront of my brain. Memories from back when I knew nothing of the turmoil life could bring. I can feel the smile disappear from my face, and I look to a flower that’s hanging upside down from his rearview mirror.
“No,” I say quietly. Movement from the driver’s seat snaps me out of my daze, and I flash him a quick half smile, then hop out of his car.

Libby Lane was such a fun read! I didn’t realize when I started it there was an element of suspense. These have been my favorite types of books these days. I loved Wyatt and Cora. They are such a fun couple. Wyatt was so standoffish in the beginning but as he began falling for Cora, the reader realizes how sweet and romantic he really is. I love books like these-the gruff, alpha male falling for his woman and showing his sweet side. I am new to this author but will definitely be reading more!

DIRTY LETTER By Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward Release and 5 STAR Review!!

Title: Dirty Letters

Authors: Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward

Release Date: November 5, 2019

Publisher: Montlake

She had yet to meet him but had never forgotten the British boy who’d warmed her heart.

As childhood pen pals, Griffin Quinn and Luca Vinetti couldn’t have been more different. Over the years, through hundreds of letters, they became best friends, sharing their deepest, darkest secrets.

Until one day it ended.

Griffin never understood why Luca disappeared. She was special. She knew the real him like no one else. He writes her a drunken letter, an angry one, never expecting her to write back.

Before they know it, they’re right where they left off. This time with heat.

But as playing catch-up goes from fun to flirty to downright dirty, Luca wants more. She wants Griffin in the flesh. That’s where it gets risky. Because when they meet, the mystery will be over. And once they really get to know each other, there’ll be no going back.

The small dining room table had a pile of mail. I’d had Dad’s mail forwarded to my house, so mostly it was just catalogs and junk. Once a month, Mrs. Cascio sent me everything that arrived, even though I’d told her it wasn’t necessary. I mindlessly fingered through the pile, not expecting to see anything worth keeping. But I stopped at an envelope addressed to me—well, not me, but Luca Ryan. That was a name I hadn’t heard in a long time. In second grade, my teacher, Mrs. Ryan, started a pen pal writing program with a small town in England. We weren’t allowed to use our real last names for safety reasons, so the entire class used her last name—hence I was Luca Ryan. I checked out the return address for the sender’s name.

G. Quinn

Wow, really? It couldn’t be.

I squinted at the postmark. It was from a PO box in California, not England, but I didn’t know any other Quinn other than Griffin. And the handwriting did look pretty familiar. But it had been close to eight years since we’d exchanged letters. Why would he write now? Curious, I ripped it open and scanned right to the bottom of the letter for the name. Sure enough, it was from Griffin. I started at the beginning.

Dear Luca,

Do you like scotch? I remember you said you didn’t like the taste of beer. But we never did get around to comparing our taste in hard liquor. Why is that, you might ask? Let me remind you—because you stopped answering my letters eight damn years ago. I wanted to let you know, I’m still pissed off about that. My mum used to say I hold grudges. But I prefer to think of it as I remember the facts. And the fact of the matter is, you suck. There, I’ve said it. I’ve been holding that shit in for a long time. Don’t get me wrong—I’m not obsessive or anything. I don’t sit in my house thinking about you all day long. In fact, there have been months that go by when thoughts of you don’t even enter my brain. But then some random thing will pop into my head out of the blue. Like I’ll see some kid in a pram eating black licorice, and I’ll think of you. Side note—I’ve tried it again as an adult, and I still think it tastes like the bottom of my shoe, so perhaps it’s that you just have no taste. You probably don’t even like scotch. Anyway, I’m sure this letter won’t find its way to you. Or if by some miracle it does, you won’t answer. But if you’re reading this, you should know two things.

  1. The Macallan 1926 is worth the extra cash. Goes down smooth.
  2. You SUCK.

Later, traitor, Griffin

What in the hell?

Dirty Letters is about pen pals, Griffin (living in England) and Luca (from the States), who are seven years old when they first meet. Their letters change over the years of writing and eventually they lose touch. An angry letter from Griffin starts the letters back up and we read about how life has changed (the bad and the good) for Griffin and Luca.

I connected with this book on so many levels. I know a married couple who were pen pals when they were young, the man also being from England. I have always been in love with their love story! I also had a loved one who loved birds and I believe that cardinals are messengers from Heaven. Doc, the bird lover, is a secondary character, but is such a lovely addition to the story. He helps Luca with her anxiety and agoraphobia. I really appreciated how these authors tackled the issue of anxiety and PTSD. Being in the field, I was thankful that they did not make Luca sound “crazy”. Yes, she has issues from a past experience, but she is a wonderful and successful woman as well.

I can’t get enough of these two authors together. They are so accomplished individually but together their books are fantastic! Can’t wait to see what’s next!

They’re called one-night stands for a reason. If you’re lucky, there’s a lot of mind-blowing sex and then you never have to see or speak to the person again. It’s fun and uncomplicated. In my case, Bash hightailed it to the airport the next morning so I definitely never expected to run into the former prospect for the Charon MC again. But when his mother passed, he dragged his pipes all the way from Texas to New York, and now he’s crashing at the Satan’s Knights clubhouse. Which also happens to be where I work and the scene of our one-night crime. If I thought forgetting the orgasm champ was hard before, it just became damn impossible.

Grief can shake a man, make him question his whole damn life and have him taking chances he never thought he’d take. Chances like moving to Staten Island, New York. Chances like prospecting for a new club. Chances like being around a certain fiery bartender who has been in my head since we shared one incredible night. Even though I should be completely focused on earning my colors, there’s a part of me that wants to chance chasing Lydia Gallo for more than one night. I want to break down her walls and uncover every one of her secrets…patch be damned.

*Editorial note: Shifting Gears is the first book in the Satan’s Knights Prospect Trilogy and is a spin-off from Khloe Wren’s Charon MC universe. It can be read and enjoyed as a standalone.*

From bestselling author, Dr. Rebecca Sharp, comes an emotional, small-town romance with a twist…

For years, I was close enough to fame to touch it. Taste it. Drink it.
Until one more drink became my answer to everything.
Until one night I made a mistake which couldn’t be undone.

So, I cut all ties to my former life and the addiction that destroyed it. And I left in search of redemption on the other side of the country.
After months building a new future, I thought my past had stayed put.
Until I opened my front door to find she’d followed me.

Taylor Hastings. My sister’s best friend.
And the good girl I’d never been good enough for.
Not then. Not now. Not ever.

One glance at Taylor’s face told me she’d come searching for a safe haven. One glance at the swell of her stomach told me she hadn’t come alone.

I didn’t hesitate to offer her my help and my home because looking out for her was the right thing to do…
Even if the way I wanted her would always be wrong.

So, I kept my distance. And Taylor kept her secrets.
Until one kiss changed everything.
Until one kiss made me realize it wasn’t our first.

This was such an emotional book.  I laughed, I cried (more than once), I wanted to reach into my iPad and slap some sense into the characters and I definitely swooned.  The chemistry between Ash and Taylor is smoking hot and the lengths they go through to get to where they wind up is nothing short of amazing.  They are two damaged souls, in completely different ways, but they fit together perfectly, even though it seems like they shouldn’t.  This was most angsty book I have read in quite a while.  If you are looking for a book that of hope, love, aching and redemption – this is it!!!  I did not read the first book in the series, but I plan to go and read Blake and Zach’s story.  I would love to see what got Ash to place he is in this book.

About the Author:
Dr. Rebecca Sharp, while using a pen name, is actually a doctor living in Pennsylvania with her husband – the love of her life.

She enjoys working in her practice with her father as well as letting her creativity run free as an author. Growing up she’s always loved a good love story and finally decided to give writing one of her own a go.

After graduating with her doctoral degree, she now enjoys spending that thing called free time traveling with her husband, cooking, and knitting.

DIRTY SECRET By Mira Lyn Kelly Release and Review!!

Title: Dirty Secret

Series: Slayers Hockey #1

Author: Mira Lyn Kelly
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: October 19, 2019

In my defense, I didn’t know she was his sister
“Sexy and fun with a delicious hockey hero, DIRTY SECRET is great for fans of Elle
Kennedy, Toni Aleo, and Sawyer Bennett. I devoured this book!” -NYTimes Bestseller Lexi Ryan
This team hates me. Something about my chronic case of resting prick face and that thing with the captain when the season started.
My fist, his jaw. Yeah, we go back and not in a good way.
Coach says no more “confrontational BS” or I don’t play at all. And that’s a hit my career in the NHL can’t take.
So the plan is simple. Keep my head down and finish out my contract with my fists checked.
There’s just one problem.
The girl from Vancouver eight months ago. The one with the sexy, shy, and sinfully
bold smile and the sweetest, wettest mouth I ever tasted. The girl who blew my mind and then blew out of my life without giving me her number.
Turns out she’s the captain’s little sister.
And even though my career depends on it… I can’t stay away from her.

When I get home, I kick my Chucks into the corner by the closet and look around my empty apartment feeling at loose ends. I don’t trust myself with the replay of the game I just watched. I can’t handle seeing Vaughn Vassar looking at me like that again tonight. Not without risking things neither of us ought to risk.
Closing my eyes, I slowly lower myself to sit at the step down to the living area and try to focus on all the reasons leaving the bar was the right thing to do. Telling myself that kiss from this afternoon was a mistake, no matter how good it felt.
So good.
I could be back at the bar in—
Knock, knock, knock.
Sucking in a startled breath, I push to my feet. My heart speeds as that restless feeling in my belly turns into a kind of instinctual pull that draws me to the door. I don’t have to check to know this isn’t my brother. It’s not George looking to chat, or Helene showing up with snacks and office gossip.
Not tonight.
My fingers tingle as I reach for the knob, my heart races, and my mind empties of all the reasons this is a mistake. Of everything except the relief surging through my veins as I swing the door open. Vaughn is braced against the frame again. He’s lost the suit jacket, and his big arms are flexed and straining as he barely holds himself back.
“I shouldn’t be here,” he says, the words gravel rough and rubbing against me in ways that only make me want to hear more. “I don’t even have a fucking excuse to check on you.”
“But you came anyway,” I whisper, drinking him in.
“I came anyway.”
The muscle in his jaw jumps over and again as his silver eyes swirl with an intensity that matches the energy coming off him in waves. I shouldn’t be reaching for him, but I don’t think I could stop if I tried. I want this. I want him. My fingers curl into the gap between the buttons of his dress shirt and I tug.
There’s a beat of resistance when he pulls back and our eyes connect—and then he’s launching forward on a growl so savagely possessive, I feel it through the deepest part of me. That big arm I couldn’t stop staring at sweeps around me as his mouth crashes against mine in a feral kiss. This isn’t tender or tentative. It’s desperate and hungry and has me half climbing his body before my shoulders hit the door he just swung shut with his foot.
Hands roaming over my thighs and ass, he alternates between gentle and desperate, stroking one second and gripping the next. Making me groan around the thrust of his tongue. Making me rock into that thick, steely ridge lodged between us.
“Allie, tell me this isn’t a mistake.”
I need more of his mouth, more of his kiss. More of his huge chest pressing hot and hard against my own so I can’t feel anything but him. “It’s not a mistake.”
It’s critical. Necessary.
It’s my first full breath in weeks, months. “We just—we just need to get it out of our system. That’s all.”
His nostrils flare, and his eyes burn over me as his hand tightens in my hair. “I don’t think—” But instead of finishing whatever he was going to say, he blows out a harsh breath and gives me a single nod.
And then I have it, the crush of his kiss.

It’s been a long time since I have read a really good hockey romance. This one was just what I needed. Vaughn and Allie are a great couple, even though she doesn’t date hockey players and he doesn’t date. Much of the book they had to keep their relationship secret, which is laughable because with their chemistry, there no way people did not see the lusty looks. I don’t think they were fooling anyone, other than themselves!

This is my first book by this author and I loved it. I will definitely be reading more of hers in the future!

Guest Post: Lainey vs. Puck Bunnies in A Lie for a Lie
A Lie for a Lie is a heartwarming, sexy, emotional romantic comedy. It’s a second chance romance, filled with secrets and there are definitely some exciting, fun twists. It’s also a story of empowerment, self-discovery, and independence.

Rook Bowman, aka RJ or Rookie as he has been known as previously, has recently taken on the role as captain of Chicago’s NHL team, and with that role comes big responsibility and more fame than he sometimes knows how to handle. As with any professional sport, the NHL lifestyle can often be full of excess and decadence; money, fame and an endless stream of women who will do just about anything to get into bed with them, and it’s not always easy to avoid that kind of temptation.

When we meet Rook in A Lie for a Lie we learn that he has a less than shiny past when it comes to the excess and the puck bunnies (hockey groupies). NHL players are often drafted quite young—just watch a game and you’ll notice that the rookies can often barely grown peach fuzz, let alone a full beard. They’re still teenagers when they start their careers, and Rook was no different. Having grown up on an alpaca farm in rural New York, his focus was mainly hockey and the family farm, but once he hit the pros he found himself surrounded by women who literally threw themselves at him. And being young, attractive and full of testosterone, he fell headfirst down that rabbit hole. At least until the drama found him in the form of a fake pregnancy and a social media firestorm. Because of that, and the impact it had on his relationship with his family, Rook swears off the bunnies and refocuses on his career, rather than extracurricular activities.

He meets Lainey on the way to Alaska, where he’s gone every summer since he was a teenager with his dad and his brother. He lost his father a few years earlier, but kept the tradition with his brother because he craves the escape from the demands of his life as an NHL superstar. Lainey encapsulates everything he misses about being a “normal guy.” She doesn’t recognize him or seem to even know anything about hockey, and that makes her even more alluring. For once, he can just be himself. He doesn’t have to worry about ulterior motives or being used. Lainey is refreshingly innocent, incredibly smart, genuine and overwhelmingly sweet and Rook finds himself enamored with her sense of adventure. As they get to know each other, Rook learns about her traumatic past and realizes that despite the challenges she’s faced, Lainey possesses a quiet strength and resilience. Add some insane chemistry and you’ve got a recipe for love. Unfortunately for Rook, he built their entire fragile relationship on lie he can’t take back.

A Lie For A Lie Excerpt

When Lainey excuses herself to the bathroom, I rush upstairs and throw on a T-shirt. I know she said whatever makes me comfortable, but sitting around shirtless is such a douche move.

I make it back to the kitchen and pour her a fresh drink before she returns from the bathroom.

“How can I help with dinner?” Lainey drapes her sweater over the back of a chair.

And my mouth goes dry. Like I ate an entire sleeve of saltines and chased it with a tablespoon of salt. So far I’ve only seen Lainey in a giant parka or an oversize sweater. Under all that bulky fabric is one hell of a body. She’s wearing a simple white waffle shirt that conforms to her curves. A pair of dark-wash skinny jeans encase her toned legs.

I’m used to bunnies throwing themselves at me, often in questionable states of undress. I stopped getting excited about miniskirts and revealing tops a long time ago. There’s something infinitely sexier about a woman who can show off her body without actually showing it off at all.

Lainey tips her head to the side. Her teeth press into her full bottom lip. I want to do that. Suck that pouty, full lip between my teeth and bite it. I want to do a lot of other, far more explicit things than that, but a kiss seems like a good place to start.

“RJ? Is everything okay?” Her eyes dip down to my chest. I’m wearing a shirt from one of my endorsement campaigns. It afforded me the extensive renovations on this cabin a few years ago.

“Huh?” I give my head a shake. “Oh. Yeah. Everything’s good. Sorry, zoned out there for a second.”

She smiles and pushes up on her toes, her eyes twinkling—like, they legit light up, and her excitement makes her entire body vibrate. It also makes her boobs jiggle. I try to keep my eyes glued to her face. It’s not easy, though.

“I do that all the time! Sometimes my brain is busy with so many thoughts I miss entire conversations. Does that happen to you too?”

I grin. I love that she seems to say whatever is on her mind. “All the time.”

“It’s actually a helpful skill when you’re being lectured, because I can sort through stuff in my head, but it’s not so great when your supervising professor is telling you what’s wrong with your thesis.” She pulls her hair over her shoulder and finger combs it.

“I take it that’s happened to you.”

“It did. Thankfully he also emailed all his criticisms, so missing out on it the first time wasn’t that big of a deal.” She divides her hair into three sections and deftly braids it without looking at what she’s doing even once. It’s pretty damn impressive. I almost want to pull it apart so I can watch her do it all over again. “Anyway, enough about that. Let’s get started on dinner!” She nudges me out of the way so she can wash her hands. She dries them on her jeans and moves over to the fridge, opening it to check out the contents.

I kind of like that she makes herself at home. I’m used to women who expect to be catered to. It’s refreshing to meet someone who doesn’t want me to pander to her.

I start pulling things out of the fridge as she starts naming items she’ll need and set them on the counter. I manage to locate most of what she asks for.

“What about garlic? Do you have any of that?” She leans over, peering into the fridge beside me. Her braid slips over her shoulder, skimming my arm.

“Uh, maybe we could forgo the garlic?”

“Are you allergic? My oldest brother gets bloated when he eats it. It took us forever to figure out what was causing it. Sometimes I’ll still put some in when he’s coming for dinner, because it’s funny to see him look like he’s expecting.” She tips her head to the side. “Or you just don’t like garlic?”

“I like it sometimes, but it depends.”

Her brows pinch together. “On what?”

“Who I’m eating with. I mean, if I’m going out with buddies, you bet I’m gonna order the honey garlic wings, or the cheesy garlic bread, or the pasta Alfredo. But if I’m eating dinner with a pretty girl, I’m gonna pass on the garlic.”

“Oh.” She twists the end of her braid around her finger.

I hope I’m not reading things wrong and making her uncomfortable.

“Does that mean you think I’m pretty?”

That she sounds genuinely curious as to my answer is unexpected. “You see yourself in the mirror every day—what do you think?”

She averts her gaze, still playing with the end of her braid. “My eyes are too big, so I always look like I’m surprised. My nose is small, and my lips are too full, so my mouth doesn’t really fit the rest of my face.”

“Wow. I think you need a new mirror, because all I see is a whole lot of gorgeous.”

She snorts a laugh and waves me off. “Once, I took a portrait class, and we learned all about proportion and symmetry of the face. Those are just my flaws based on what I was taught.”

“Well, I’m a big fan of all your flaws, and I think they make you more beautiful, not less.”

“Thanks. I think you’re beautiful too.” She cringes. “I mean handsome. You’re very nice to look at, with or without a shirt on. When I fell in your lap on the airplane, I remember thinking, At least I fell on someone nice looking.”

“Is that so?”

“Mm-hmm.” She opens a drawer, maybe to avoid looking at me. “And as much as I was mortified when you sat beside me on the Cessna, I couldn’t complain about the view, inside or outside of the plane. That you turned out to be really nice, and just so helpful, was a great bonus.” She hands me a roll of foil. “Why don’t you wrap the potatoes? They take the longest, so we should get started on those first.”

I put the potatoes on the barbecue and let Lainey order me around. She definitely knows her way around a kitchen. When I was growing up, my mom did most of the cooking, but my dad could make a mean Saturday-morning brunch. He also made great bread, which I miss a lot.

An hour later we’re seated at the table, plates full of steak, twice-baked potatoes, and crispy brussels sprouts cooked in bacon fat. I open a bottle of red wine and offer Lainey a glass.

“Just a little bit? I’m not sure I like red wine.”

“Maybe you just haven’t had the right red wine.” I pour a little into her glass.

She picks it up and gives it a swirl, then sniffs it. “I’ve seen people do this in the movies, but I don’t really know what the point is,” she admits, then tips the glass back and takes a tentative sip. Her expression turns thoughtful; then she takes another, slightly more robust sip. “This is actually really nice. I like it. Maybe the red wine I had before was bad.”

“Maybe. Some of the cheap stuff tastes pretty awful.” I pour more into her glass before filling mine. I hold up my glass and wait for her to raise hers.

“To chance meetings.”

“To new adventures and great company to share them with.” We toast and take a sip, each smiling behind the rim.

Let me start by saying I love Helena Hunting’s book, but this book was not one of my favorites, sadly.  It checked all the boxes: super hot, sexy hockey player, smart but timid heroine, steamy hot sex, and a second chance at romance.  But somehow, someway it did not blow me away.  It was a good book!!  Just not exceptional, as I have come to expect from Ms Hunting.  It did have a few twists I did not see coming that I loved and appreciated.  I was hoping she would delve further into when the hockey season started, maybe that will be in the next book?  Wink wink!!

This is the first time I’ve read anything by CP Smith so I was unfamiliar with Bernice and The Wallflowers. Joe is from the Until series. Joe and Bernice have their Boom moment but have never met and then a year passes before they meet again. I love that they are middle aged. I love that it is never too late for the BOOM!

I have to admit; in the beginning I was skeptical about this book. Once I got my head around a different author writing in the style of Aurora Rose Reynolds I found it easier to accept the book and enjoy it. It really is a fun read and I’d recommend not letting this hold you back.
