I was anxiously awaiting Damon Scott’s story and The King did not disappoint. I have loved The Endgame Series since  the beginning and was super excited about the Masterpiece Duet.

Damon and Penny’s relationship begins early and sets the tone of the story. The King is not easy to read because of Penny’s age, which I didn’t realize while reading The Endgame Series. She is mature and strong beyond her years, an intelligent yet damaged young woman that has seen and experienced more in her life then she should have. This makes her the perfect foil for the equally damaged Damon. I also thought him slightly deranged but I understand him so much better now.

This book is best read after the first series. It is definitely not for people that get easily offended. That being said, Skye Warren did an amazing job not being graphic about details, instead just giving the reader enough to understand what happened. I adore these books and can not wait for the next one!
