“I wish I could stop this one moment, capture it, because I know it won’t last. Because a guy like him doesn’t stay in a woman’s life. He breezes through and leaves only havoc behind.”
Out of all the places Mandy could have taken me,
she’s just managed to find the one place with the one guy
I hoped to never see again.
Judging from the way he acted, almost kicking me off
his property, he was pissed.
Like, really pissed.
Like I-had-no-sex-pissed. “
This was the first book of J. C. Reed’s that I have read. I am glad I got the chance to read and review this book. It was very entertaining and has a little twist that I did not see coming. Kellan and Ava first met when they, literally, run into each other. Kellan propositions Ava then and she walks away. They then meet a second time thanks to a hurricane and Ava’s best friend’s short cut through Montana. This next time Ava and Kellan meet, Ava needs help. Kellan, again, is a jerk to her but they end up spending several days together and everything changes.
What I loved about this book is Ava’s character. She has so much spunk and she really tells it like she sees it. She has been burned before and therefore doesn’t trust easily. Kellan also doesn’t trust easily and is not looking for a relationship. I love the change in Ava. Where in the beginning she is uptight and closed off, by the end she is willing to take risks and put herself out there. I have to admit, it took until the end of the book for me to like Kellan. He was such an arrogant ass throughout the book; I had a hard time forgiving him when he was finally being sweet.
Overall, Beautiful Distraction is enjoyable and unpredictable, which in my opinion is a sign of a good book. J. C. Reed’s writing is fun, sexy, and romantic. I would recommend this book and look forward to reading more of J.C. Reed’s books in the future.
