Alessandra Torre is one of the best and most skilled writers of this time. She is genre bending; a magician of words, enrapturing the reader with each key stroke from her computer, creating a piece of art. There are very few authors today that can write a series about a psychotic but misunderstood female serial killer that tugs at the readers heartstrings. You can’t help but root for Deanna Madden, wanting her to resist her urges but accepting that her thirst for blood could be her fatal flaw.
Deanna, simply put, is a disturbingly amazing character. Beautiful, intense, mentally unstable but strangely lovable, she is a delightful conundrum. You can’t help but smile when her playful side emerges and quietly urge her on when she explores her dark side (even though you begin to question your own sanity in doing so). She is a literary foil in and of herself, which I never thought possible but here it is right in front of my eyes.
I long for more exploration of the story. I, like Alessandra, am not quite ready to let go of Deanna Madden yet. I feel as though there is more to her story. I will be anticipating an announcement of more to come and will be sad if nothing ever does. However, I will read ANYTHING Alessandra Torre writes with the same excitement as I have with this series. Thank you, Alessandra, for bringing Deanna to life.
